Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Modeh stores, why, and how you can control it. Your gratitude journal is private by default and does not become a post.

1. Who operates the Service

Modeh is operated by Leo Dahan, United States (referred to as “we,” “us,” or the “Service operator”).

For privacy questions, requests, or reports, contact report@anxhq.com. This policy covers modeh.app and the Modeh iOS and Android applications.

2. Guest mode — data that stays on your device

You can use personal features without creating an account. In guest mode, your gratitude journal and personal My Path text stay only on your device and are not sent to our servers. If you enable push notifications, a random install identifier, push token, language, form of address, and selected notification categories are sent so we can deliver only relevant messages. Your private text is not included in push registration.

  • Removing the app, resetting the device, or losing the device may remove local data.
  • Local storage relies on the protections of your device and is not described as end-to-end encryption.
  • Choosing to share a card does not automatically include private journal, goal, or note text.

3. Data processed for a cloud account

If you create an account, we process the information needed to create and secure it and to sync between devices.

  • Email address, a name if supplied, account identifier, and basic sign-in and security information.
  • Passwords are securely hashed; we do not store a readable password.
  • Your gratitude journal, personal steps, and profile preferences are stored together as an encrypted payload in the database for synchronization.
  • If Apple or Google sign-in is enabled and selected, we receive the provider identifier and account details that the provider and user choose to provide.

4. Technical and website data

To operate and secure the Service, the server may process IP address, browser and device type, request times, page URLs, session identifiers, errors, and security events. The public website stores choices such as language and area in the browser.

  • Modeh does not request precise GPS location. A city or area is selected manually for calendar and Shabbat times.
  • As of this update, Modeh does not use targeted advertising and does not sell personal information.
  • Google Analytics on the website and Firebase Analytics in the app are enabled only after explicit consent. They are used for anonymous usage measurement and never receive private gratitude, personal prayer, or My Path text.

5. How we use information

  • Operate the website and app, create accounts, and sync data when requested.
  • Show content, dates, the weekly portion, and Shabbat times for the selected language and area.
  • Schedule local reminders and send push notifications for categories the user explicitly selected.
  • Secure the Service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot, and respond to support.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce the Terms of Use.

6. Notifications and sharing

Notifications are optional and remain off until enabled. Some are scheduled locally on the device, while others may be delivered through Expo Push according to selected categories such as daily inspiration, relationships, Shabbat, or Tefillin. Sharing uses the device share sheet and the selected third-party service — such as WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS, or email — whose own terms and privacy practices then apply.

7. When information may be disclosed

We do not sell personal information and do not provide gratitude journal content to advertisers. Information may be processed only as necessary by infrastructure and security providers that help operate the Service.

  • Hosting, server, database, backup, and security providers.
  • Apple and Google when their stores, operating systems, or sign-in services are used.
  • Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage measurement, and only after user consent.
  • Expo for delivering push notifications after the user opts in.
  • Sefaria and Hebcal for public text sources, calendar data, and times. Your gratitude journal is not sent to them.
  • Authorities or another party when required by valid law or process, or to protect users and the Service.

8. Retention and deletion

Account data and the cloud payload are kept while the account is active or until deletion is requested. In-app deletion removes the account, sessions, and active server copy. Encrypted backups rotate within 30 days. Technical and security logs are generally retained for no longer than 90 days unless longer retention is needed to investigate an incident, prevent fraud, or comply with law.

  • A copy already on the device may remain locally in guest mode so personal writing is not deleted without an additional warning.
  • Local data can be removed by clearing app data or removing the app.
  • An external deletion request is available on the account deletion page.

9. Security

We use HTTPS, limited access, password hashing, encryption of private database payloads, secure sessions, backups, and administrative controls. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Never send us a password by email.

10. Children and teens

There is no minimum age for reading or local guest use. Children under 13 may use local guest mode with parent or guardian supervision, but may not create a cloud account or provide us with email or other personal information without verifiable parental consent. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete it.

11. Your rights and choices

  • Access, correct, request a copy of, or request deletion of account information.
  • Turn off notifications and permissions through the app or device settings.
  • Turn off or change Analytics consent at any time in app settings or through the link in the website footer.
  • Use guest mode instead of opening an account.
  • Contact report@anxhq.com about a privacy request.

12. Users outside the United States

Modeh is operated from the United States. Using the Service elsewhere may involve processing in the United States or in countries where infrastructure providers operate. If local law gives you additional rights — including access, correction, deletion, objection, or restriction — contact us to exercise them.

13. Updates and contact

We may update this policy when the Service, law, or providers change. Material changes will be shown on the website or in the app and will take effect on the stated date. Questions and requests: report@anxhq.com.
